Aesop (circa 620560 B.C.) was a Greek writer whose name has
become associated with the beast fables. They originated in Indo-
European cultures where the fables were passed along orally. The
Greek poet Babrius rewrote many of Aesop’s Fables. They were also
put into Latin verse by the Roman poet Phaedrus in the 1st century A.D.
